Mark Gunsalus

Mark is from Dudley, MA. His wife Pam, son Greg and twin daughters Tina and Lizzy are all part of the team. His dad used to take him to the Thompson CT road course to watch sports car races often during the mid to late 1960’s. The cars that he was attracted to were Shelby’s and Cobra’s. It was a dream of his to race, so in 1992 purchased and co-owned and drove his first Shelby GT350 race car with Curt Vogt. Mark eventually bought the entire car and campaigned it in many races until 2004 including; Limerock, Watkins Glen, Mid-Ohio, New Hampshire, Summit Point, Road Atlanta and Indy.

In 2014 after the New Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park Road Course reopened and the kids now in their teen years he just had to race again and Pam supported the idea. The Shelby GT350 he bought from Cobra Automotive is a well built racing machine. It has a cast 302 block with cast heads, drum brakes in the rear and disc in the front. It has stock Mustang suspension with leaf springs in the rear. The car is well sorted, fast and follows vintage preparation guidelines with proper safety enhancements  including a well built cage and fuel cell.

Ken Gevry partners with Mark and is the Crew Chief. He keeps the car running fast, reliable and very dialed. They’ve come a long way over the past few years dialing the car and beginning to run at the front of races. Ken has a long background in Ford Performance cars and stock car racing. They both have been around Thompson Speedway their whole lives so that place and racing is special to them. The last few years they raced at Thompson, Palmer and the Limerock Vintage Festival. They plan to expand the schedule and get to Watkins Glen, NJ and possibly Sebring at some point. His son Greg works with Ken on the car and does a fantastic job. Ken has taught him a lot and Greg now understands the Shelby GT350 well. We work hard on preparation so it’s safe, fast and reliable. Stop by and see them at the races. Watch the GT350 drift as it roars by. They are very approachable and happy to show the car to anyone who is interested. They love race enthusiasts.
